Taken at Open Pen magazine’s recent event at Jamboree in Limehouse. Taking photographs of people performing is never easy. I was trying to get the right angle of writer Ben Byrne and stepping back to take a shot of the audience, I saw him through a purple sheer curtain, which seemed to add a silky Instagram filter of its own. A couple of clicks later and I felt that I had captured the experience of being a writer performing, the nerves shielded from sight.
The second photo is much more straightforward, useful, a touch prosaic in its composition.
